The Black Sea Countries Coalition on Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention

On March 16 -17 the first meeting of the the Steering Committee of the Black Sea Countries Coalition on Breast and Cervical Cancers Prevention is being held in Tbilisi. The Steering Committee of the Coalition plans to conclude an agreement on fostering the early detection of breast and cervical cancers prevention in the region.

The Black Sea Countries Coalition on Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention was launched at the Black Sea Countries Conference on Breast and Cervical Cancers Prevention held in Batumi on 11-12 September, 2009. The formation of the Coalition was initiated by Ms. Sandra Elizabeth Roelofs, the first lady of Georgia, the National Screening Center and UNFPA Country Office in Georgia. It consists of the representatives of the health ministries, health policy managers, clinicians from the Black Sea basin and South Caucasus countries. Currently the associated members of Coalition are: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, and Turkey, Ukraine. The Coalition membership is open to the other countries from the region.
